What are the FAQ’s

Q: How many pictures will I receive from a session?

A: Please see the Session Pricing/Investment page for # of images corresponding to the type of session.
Q: Do you have a studio?

A: I do not have an indoor studio. I am a natural light photographer –  I love it!  Sunset, sunrise, open fields with breeze blowing in the grass, lens flare, all these different forms of light and scenery are gorgeous and appeal to me so much more than the false light of a studio.  I also want kiddos to have room to run and play and not be confined so that I can capture them as who they are, etc.  Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of my clients’ homes – I bring everything to you and we work within your baby’s schedule, not vice versa.

Q:  How long does it take to get my images?

A:  Please see the Session Details page for full details regarding turnaround time on sessions, but on average, regular sessions have a turnaround time of 3-4 weeks.  For Special Events/Weddings, the average turnaround time is 6-8 weeks.  For prints, the average turnaround time is 5 business days.

Q: When is payment due?

A: A $50 Deposit is due at the time you BOOK your session, then the balance is due at the time of, or before the session via cash or check. (Please make checks payable to Desiree Roberts).  For additional images beyond the number included in your session, the fee is $10 per image and must be paid before images are released.  Please keep in mind additional time required for post-processing of additional images.

Q: Do I have to order my prints through you?

A: No – You will receive a printing release form with your images giving you permission to print your images anywhere, at any time, on your own timeframe and budget without any copyright printing issues.

– I do offer print products and services if you’d rather purchase high quality prints to showcase your images at their best.

Q: When should I book my session?

A: As soon as possible!  My calendar books up 2-3 months in advance, and the busiest times of the year are Spring and Fall.  To ensure you’ll have your images back by the timeframe you want/need them, please allow enough time for the post processing as well.  There’s no such thing as getting on the calendar too early, and it’s very upsetting and sad to me when I have to tell people I’m completely booked and can’t see them and do their session because they’ve waited til the last minute.  Also – please be sure to check out the Mini-Session Dates page for all the scheduled dates of the year for those fun customized set-ups!

Q: What time in the day is best to have my photo session?

A: Mornings and Evenings –  I schedule sessions within the 2 hours after sunrise, and the 2 hours before sunset, so please keep that in mind when scheduling.  That hour after sunrise, and the hour before sunset provide the most amazing lighting – that’s why it’s called the golden hour! Please contact me so we can discuss the better choice of morning or evening relating to your chosen location(s).

A: What is the Rescheduling Policy?

A: Rescheduling due to weather concerns will be determined by Photographer.  (Such as precipitation or excessive winds, not temperature).  In these instances, there are no additional charges associated to the rescheduling.  Any other  rescheduling by Client will forfeit the previous deposit and a new deposit will be due for the rescheduled date.

Q: At what point during the pregnancy should I do maternity portraits?

A: 27-32 weeks

Q:  How do I choose the location(s) for my session?

A: If you don’t already have your location(s) in mind, we can discuss what type of “style” you’d like in your setting(s), and I will be able to provide you with several choices of locations either around the DFW metroplex, or specifically near you. You can also visit my “Locations” page at desireeroberts.com/Locations

Q: What are “props”?

A:  I can bring props such as chairs, vintage items, children’s toys, baskets, blankets, pillows, girls’ dress-up items, etc.  Please feel free to incorporate anything of your own that you’d like to be a part of your session also!  For anything outside of my own inventory that you’d like to have at the session, please contact me so I can assist with arrangements to be made with an outside vendor for rental and delivery.

Q: What do I need to do for my upcoming newborn’s session?

A:  Newborn sessions need to be done within the first 10 days of birth.  Unless you’d rather make other arrangements, I come out to your home, and bring lots of props to choose from.  It’s best if your new sweet family addition is fast asleep so we can get all those precious posed shots.  The best thing to do is to ensure that the room is nice and warm so they can be comfy and content.

Q: Do you edit/retouch the images? / Can I edit the images? / Copyright Info – IMPORTANT!

A: The post processing and editing of all images is included in your session/special event, and includes editing of blemishes, etc.  Unprocessed and/or RAW images are NOT released.

Desiree Roberts Photography retains the copyright to all images, per USC Title 17 (US Copyright Law).  I do grant permission in the Print Release with each disc for clients to print their images, for personal use only.

COPYRIGHT REMINDER: Please, as a courtesy, remember Copyright LAWS and do NOT crop or edit/alter professional images in any way.  The ability to obtain content from the web, does NOT give one the right to duplicate, alter, and/or republish it.  My clients can refer to their release form they receive with their DTP CD package, or the contract signed for each special event, regarding copyright and licensing info.

If you haven’t been presented with the image(s) by the photographer, you will need written authorization to use it in any way. No manipulation or changes may be made to the images without photographer’s written consent.

If you have permission to publish, PLEASE remember to credit the photographer if you post an image ON ANY SITE. I take the time to logo every picture that  I post online for specific copyright and advertising purposes.  The logo lets people know it was taken by a professional, there are rights associated, and also who that photographer/business was.  For those of you that want to share DTP images online, and have a non-logo’d picture from your CD, and want a quick “copy and paste” for crediting purposes, please feel free to use the following statement:
